چکیده
This paper describes an MPM formulation using linear quadrilateral elements suitable for soil-structure-interaction problems. The volumetric locking and stress-oscillations are mitigated a reduced integration technique the Gauss scheme, respectively. can be used with both structured unstructured computational meshes. In addition, improved calculation scheme is proposed to obtain accurate contact reaction forces, especially contacts between non-porous structures soils high liquid pressures. validated by simulating wide range of applications such as water dam break, 1D large-strain consolidation, bearing capacity strip footing. Finally, installation cone penetrometer in centrifuge successfully simulated soft compared experimental data entire drainage conditions.

Using Miniature Cone Penetration Test (Mini-CPT) to determine engineering properties of sandy soils
In-situ testing techniques have proven to be successful in improving the speed and reliability of geotechnical investigations. One of the most common in-situ methods in engineering geology and site investigation is Cone Penetration Test (CPT), which is mainly used for characterization of soils, as it is a robust, simple, fast, reliable and economic test that can provide continuous soundings of ...
متن کاملNew Quadrilateral Mixed Finite Elements
In this paper, we introduce a new family of mixed finite element spaces of higher order (k ≥ 1) on general quadrilateral grids. A typical element has two fewer degrees of freedom than the well-known RaviartThomas finite element RT[k], yet enjoys an optimal-order approximation for the velocity in L 2-norm. The order of approximation in the divergence norm is one less than the velocity, as is com...
متن کاملQuadrilateral H(div) Finite Elements
We consider the approximation properties of quadrilateral finite element spaces of vector fields defined by the Piola transform, extending results previously obtained for scalar approximation. The finite element spaces are constructed starting with a given finite dimensional space of vector fields on a square reference element, which is then transformed to a space of vector fields on each conve...
متن کاملApplication of Uintah-mpm to Shaped Charge Jet Penetration of Aluminum Application of Uintah-mpm to Shaped Charge Jet Penetration of Aluminum
The capability of the generalized interpolation material point (GIMP) method in simulation of penetration events is investigated. A series of experiments was performed wherein a shaped charge jet penetrates into a stack of aluminum plates. Electronic switches were used to measure the penetration time history. Flash x-ray techniques were used to measure the density, length, radius and velocity o...
